How to convert a UK driving license to a UAE license
Converting a UK driving license to a UAE license is straightforward and doesn’t require a test. Here is what it involves:
Start the service with your licensing authority: In Dubai, apply through the RTA website, the RTA Dubai app, an RTA Customer Happiness Centre or an RTA-approved driving institute. In other emirates, apply through the local traffic and licensing department.
Submit required documents: In Dubai, you need your valid Emirates ID, your original UK driving licence and an electronic eye test result. Other emirates may also require a copy of your passport and photos. Your UK licence is in English, so you don't need a translation.
Medical examination: You must complete an eye test at an authorised optician or medical centre in the UAE. This confirms that you meet the minimum vision standards required for safe driving. The electronic eye test costs AED 140 to AED 180, and the result is sent straight to your file.
