Certified Translations for USCIS and Official Use
If you submit documents in a foreign language to USCIS or other U.S. authorities, you must provide a full English translation with the required translator certification. The certification confirms that the translation is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate from the source language into English.
Unlike countries like Spain and the UAE, the US doesn’t require translators to be members of an organisation or government-appointed. What matters is that the translation meets the applicable requirements and includes the required certification.
Translayte provides English translations and translator certification for documents commonly submitted with US immigration applications and other official proceedings. Our certified translation service pricing starts at $25/page and is used by clients submitting documents to USCIS, courts, universities, and other official organisations.
USCIS Document Translation Services
Translayte provides English translations for a wide range of documents that may form part of a US immigration application, court proceedings, other official use, or a petition, including:
Passports and visas
Adoption documents
Court documents
When You May Need a USCIS Translation
You may need an English translation when supporting an immigration application or petition with a document that contains foreign-language content. This can include documents submitted for:
Family-based immigration
Adjustment of status
Naturalisation
Employment-based immigration
Asylum and humanitarian applications
Adoption-related immigration processes
Investor and business immigration
Whatever your needs, we ensure your translated documents are accurate, professional, and compliant with USCIS and other official US authorities' requirements.
If USCIS raises a translation-related issue with a translation supplied by Translayte, send us the notice and the relevant documents. We can review the translation and make any necessary corrections where the issue relates to our translation or certification.
USCIS Certified Translation Requirements
USCIS's translation requirement is set out in 8 CFR § 103.2(b)(3). It states:
Any document containing foreign language submitted to USCIS shall be accompanied by a full English language translation which the translator has certified as complete and accurate, and by the translator's certification that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English.
The translator's certification is usually a written statement included with the translated document and delivered as a PDF file or physical copy. You can then submit the translation along with the original as part of your visa or green card application.
Our USCIS translation service is designed to provide the full English translation and translator certification required under 8 CFR § 103.2(b)(3).
If USCIS raises a question about a translation provided by Translayte, send us the notice and the relevant documents. We can review the translation against the request and help identify whether a translation-related correction or additional certification is needed.
USCIS Translation Certification Statement
The translator's certification confirms that the translator is competent to translate from the foreign language into English and that the translation is complete and accurate.
A certification statement may be worded as follows:
“I, [name of translator], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in English and [source language] and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached in [source language].”
The translator should sign and date the certification. USCIS form instructions may require additional information, such as the translator's printed name and contact information. We review the applicable translation requirements for your order and provide the translation and certification accordingly.
What if I Receive a USCIS Request for Evidence (RFE)?
A Request for Evidence (RFE) may ask you to provide additional evidence or correct a deficiency in documents submitted with your application or petition. Translation issues can arise when a foreign-language document lacks the required full English translation or when the accompanying certification doesn't meet the applicable requirements.
What to do if your RFE concerns a translation
Send Translayte:
Your USCIS RFE notice
The original foreign-language document
The English translation you previously submitted, if applicable
The submission deadline
We can review the translation against the issue identified in the RFE and help determine whether a corrected translation or certification is required.

Who Can Certify a Translation in the US?
Unlike many other countries, the US has no federal or state licensing or certification for translators. Thus, in the USA, there is no such thing as a sworn/certified translator. USCIS does not require applicants to use a specific translation company or a translator holding a USCIS-issued credential. The translator must certify that the English translation is complete and accurate and that they are competent to translate from the foreign language into English.
As a result, anyone who is sufficiently competent in both languages can translate a document into English and sign an accompanying statement attesting that the translation is complete and accurate.
Our customers choose Translayte for certified translation because of our proven experience and expertise with all types of documents submitted to U.S. authorities.
Where You Can Use Our Certified English Translations in the U.S.

ECFMG requires English translations for documents submitted in other languages and sets its own translation requirements, including a word-for-word translation, certification and other formatting requirements.
